Had a real bitch of a day...

Three or four good pinches of the first US snuff I reached for has
sorted me out.......

Three cheers for Helme's Three Thistles, Sweet Scotch snuff.

As good as a stiff whiskey anyday.

I have not yet tried Three Thistles, can you give me a lowdown billy?
i like the US snuffs when I am in work and want to take very little
to get a great effect. If I take Kendal Brown I have to be at home
and really shovel it in the nose in order to get an effect. When it
comes it is quite nice, but the quantity of work it requires.....

OK Nick,
I have a dozen different varieties of US snuff. The differences in
them are shall we say 'subtle' when used nasally.
At the risk of an overdose I'll sample them all to see which one
you're likely to have as a close comparison.

Of the Helme's varieties, Navy Sweet scotch is slightly sweeter,
Railroad mills is almost a match, Honey Bee has a different sort of
sweetness, perhaps there is actually some honey in it? Society,
again sweet but with a slight tartness to it.

Next, American snuff a division of the Conwood Co of Memphis, Peach,
not quite as sweet and definitely no peach flavour, actually quite
nice. Dental Sweet Snuff has quite a kick and is really nice if you
can get your head around the dental title. Tube Rose is darker and
not so sweet another nice one. W.E.Garrett & Sons Sweet and mild,
almost a match but not quite as sweet. W.E. Garrett's Scotch, this
one is good, it's darker not so cloyingly sweet; much like a
supercharged HDT. I just broached my last tin of this one, now I
know why I was saving it.

Finally 2 US Smokeless tobacco offerings: Carhart's Sweet CC Scotch
snuff, another close match to Three Thistles. And now for the last
one, Bruton Scotch Snuff, dark, not sweet, tobaccoey, my favourite
US snuff.

Of all those I've samples of, the closest match to the Three
Thistles are either Railroad Mills, Carhart's Sweet CC or
W.E.Garretts Sweet and Mild.

In my opinion the two best nasal experiences are W.E.Garretts Scotch
and Bruton Scotch with the Bruton leading by a nose so to speak.

And boy is my head spinning now...

I have forwarded your reviews to my business email address for future
reference.

DO try the Honey Bee with menthol as a blend, you will truly notice
the REAL honey flavour there.

So can we say that the Three Thistles is more of a dry (less sweet)
version of other US scotches, fine cut, but not as fine as the WE
Garrett, and that Bruton is nearly Rooster but with more of a genuine
tobacco flavour and less leathery undertones?

What do you make of the Levi garrett? I still quite like it.
